TechJoint, the UK’s leading specialists in highways repair and bridge deck waterproofing solutions are today delighted to announce the renewal of its partnership with the reigning BTCC Independent Champion, Aron Taylor-Smith. The longstanding partnership now enters it’s fourth year and has played a vital role in enabling Taylor-Smith to sign for the iconic Toyota Gazoo Racing team ahead of the 2025 season.
Taylor-Smith commented: “This move to Toyota Gazoo Racing UK would simply not have been possible if it wasn’t for TechJoint. They have played a major role in giving me the best opportunity that I have ever had in my BTCC career, and I will forever be grateful to Mark & his team for this. Aside from that, I absolutely loved having customers of TechJoint trackside at every race last season and hopefully we will see some familiar faces as we embark on this next chapter together.”
The Irishman joins the Speedworks Motorsport, the home of Toyota Gazoo Racing UK fresh from being crowned Independents Champion at Brands Hatch last autumn, after a silverware-laden campaign including 20 class victories, and two visits to the outright podium.
Taylor-Smith’s consistency, as much as his speed and race craft, also turned heads up and down the pit lane, with the 35-year-old the only driver to score points in each of the 30 races last campaign, no mean feat on one of the most competitive grids in world motorsport.
His reward is a seat in one of the team’s manufacturer-backed Toyota Corolla GR Sport challengers, one of the most successful touring cars in the modern-day BTCC, with 17 victories, 30 further podiums, five pole positions and 10 fastest laps since being introduced to the category in 2019.
It marks the latest exciting chapter in something of a career renaissance for Taylor-Smith, as he seeks to add to the four race wins, 22 podiums and almost 1,500 career points enjoyed over almost 300 race starts since making his BTCC debut back in 2011.
The TechJoint BTCC partnership extends far beyond a generic marketing program with staff & customers alike having the unique opportunity to join Taylor-Smith trackside throughout the season. The BTCC is the UK’s most widely followed championship and eclipsed over twenty million viewers during the 2024 season and now with the move to Toyota Gazoo Racing, the TechJoint logo will be prominently on show throughout the 2025 season.
Mark Healy commented: “This partnership once started out as an interest in the sport but over the years we have seen more & more customers attending races which extends far beyond the value of a marketing program. Aron goes out of his way to make sure that our guests have the time of their life when they are trackside and the feedback we get is second to none. As a company, we are extremely proud of this partnership and to now know that Aron will be in a manufacturer supported program makes it that much sweeter. I cannot wait to see how the year unfolds!”
